FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE ADVISOR

GENERAL SUMMARY:

This position will serve as a point of contact for College of Graduate and Extended Studies (CGES) financial services.  It is a full time, non-exempt position.

 PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Review financial aid files and award financial aid when file is complete (40%)
  • Answer questions from students and parents regarding financial aid (20%)
  • Monitor enrolled hours and adjust financial aid as needed (20%)
  • Assist CLAS students and parents as needed (05%)
  • Work with academic advisors and other campus offices (10%)
  • Other duties within the office as determined/needed (05%)

 EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS:

Some college hours or degree preferred.  Must have excellent customer service skills and be proficient with Microsoft Office products.  

 PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Regularly required to sit for long periods of time, and talk or hear. Regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle or feel and reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required includes close vision. Must work on a computer for extended periods of time.  Must lift, carry, and move a minimum of 10 pounds on an occasional basis.

Organizational Skills, Ability to Multi-task, Great Communication Skills

 OTHER INFORMATION AND ATTRIBUTES:

Occasional work for weekend events required. Periodic travel required. Must have a valid driver’s license and a good driving record to qualify to operate a vehicle within CMU guidelines.
